Welcome!

Our name - an explanation
As our name suggests we are a group of former students of a girls' school in Enfield which is now a London Borough but was formerly in the County of Middlesex. For most of its 90+ years of existence the School has been called Enfield County School. In 1967, however, there was a change and for the next twenty years it was known as Enfield Chace School. In 1987 the School reverted to its original name of Enfield County. When talking about the School we tend to use the abbreviation ECS - this saves time and space and simplifies matters as it covers both names.

We abbreviate our own name to ECSOGA in writing and colloquially we call ourselves 'the Association' or 'the Old Girls' as well as ECSOGA.

Membership of ECSOGA is open to anyone who has attended the School or worked at the School, no matter how briefly and no matter what the School was called.

Membership is now closed as it was agreed at the last AGM to wind up the OGA in 2009.

Our purpose
ECSOGA acts as the formal link betweeen the School and its former students. Our purpose is to enable our members to stay in touch with the School and each other.
Specifically we aim to

  • Remember, cherish and celebrate the School's past: its achievements, staff and students.
  • Give practical support to the present School.
  • Provide today's students with encouraging examples of their future prospects.

See About us and Constitution for details of how we try to meet these aims.

See Programme for details of our forthcoming meetings and how to let us know that you will be attending.

Thank you for visiting us. We hope you will find the rest of our website interesting and informative. If you have any comments please let us have them. See Contacts for the relevant addresses. If you are in touch with any other former ECS students please give them this website address and encourage them to pay us a visit too.

We look forward to meeting you before too long and we hope that life is treating you well as you go ONWARD EVER.
